not a fan of the x-factor but hey to each their own. dont need this dribble on telly as a talent would rise to the top anyway.
saw a clip last night, DISCO night, and this young girl tried to pass BLONDIE off as disco ![]() ![]() |

The young girl is Diana Vickers, my friends cousin. Granted Debbie Harry does sing it better but I did quite like Diana's version albeit the set let her down. Blondie was a mix of new wave and disco

Was
![]() in this link it describes her as incorporating, disco pop and reggae .... http://ginasmusicmemories.blogspot.c...es-of-80s.html Heart of Glass was originally recorded in 1975 under the name "Once I Had a Love," and was much slower with a blues/reggae vibe to it. The song was frequently performed on tours, then was re-recorded with the same title in 1978, when the song was made a bit more rock-oriented. When Blondie recorded the album Parallel Lines, disco was big on the music scene, and producer Mike Chapman decided to give the song the disco twist that made the song what it is today, and one of the best-known Blondie recordings. i am not denying disco was 'BIG' on the music scene but by 1978 was on its way out. artists have recorded songs from different eras and different styles and will continue to to pay the rent.
however blondie was not disco. blondie was more electric punk if you like, she had a unique style that set her apart from anyone else. i grew up in that era and blondie was in nearly all my mates collections, and believe me if they were classed as disco there would defo been a suicide pact in clayton. |

You are quite right of course, however, her best sellers were the disco versions and blondie was also part of my collection. I too grew up in that era
