Bike wouldn't start this morning. Turned over started for a few seconds and then cut out. Battery soon went flat. Had to bump start it which was fine. travelled about 10 miles 8 of which were on a motorway. Came to the end of the motorway and it was running like a sack of sh!t. Had to keep the revs up to keep it running. Smelled like it was running really rich. Next set of lights cut out and wouldn't start.
![]() Bump started it after about 10 minutes and the rest of the journey to work was fine. Any ideas? What are the symptoms of carb icing, could this be what it was? Sorry if I've gone on a bit!! |

Doesn't sound like carb ice. Perhaps a loose battery contact.

Don't think it's a loose battery terminal as it was turning over, but only just. Not enough for it to fire up.
It was all the coughing and spluttering that I was more concerned about. Will have to see what happens in the next 20 minutes when I finish work. 15 miles is along way to push an SV!! ![]() |

Looks like the SV's going to have to go to the doctors!
Started fine after work last night, ran fine most of the way home and then started running a bit rough again. Started on the button this morning, ran fine for about 10-15 minutes then as soon as I approached traffic lights, junctions etc It was alootery as to wether it would pull away or bog down and die on me ![]() Not being technically minded, I can only think it has something to do with the Carbs/choke/fuelling. If you give it the beans it'll cough through it and run ok. Don't know if it is overfuelling? Only thing I've done recently is replaced the baffle in the zorst. Any Ideas ![]() |

Chokes are worth removing and checking.
