Ive got my bike booked in this morning for a front tyre change, with JHS.
James recommended a avon azaro for the front as id requested a tyre thats gonna last me a looong time - i go to and from london every weekend. Anyone ride these tyres? How they doing in terms of longevity and performance? I know the two dont often mix, but its nice to get both looked at together. Any help please? ![]() |

Avon Azaros are great, the grip level has be superseded by the Avon Storm now but the Azaros will last longer than Storms and offer more than enough grip for an SV. Azaros are in my top two choice of tyres.

Opinions are varied on tyres. Really you should try between the two shown above and see which is best for you. Avon Storms (replacement to the Azaro) do last a long time. I might try some Pilot Road 2's this time around as I have used Azaro's/Storms since I started riding big bikes.

Well this morning i headed out from a cold bristol, through rain and dew at 4am, to london.
Officially my front tyre is scrubbed in, it felt light and extremely slippy to begin with. Now it feels still light and nimble, but EXTREMELY confidence inspiring even in the wet, its got loads of grip and im extremely happy with the way the front end handles due to this tyre. Now all thats left to test is longevity... lol |

Take it steady, just because you have done 100 miles bolt upright on the motorway doesn't mean your tyre is scrubbed in as the edges need scrubbing in the same amount too. Although Avon's seem to scrub in very quickly, although that could just be me....

+1 phaelok
storm front tyre was very slippy into the first bend when I fitted mine, but soon scrubbed in after that. They do seem to turn in much quicker than the z6's I had on before, but that could be more down to the fact the rear z6 was pretty square by the time i swapped tyres. Storms grip very well in wet & dry, and feel great when fully warm. Not got a lot of feel from them on the very cold mornings we had early last week. |
