Default How long would you give a non payer on ebay?

Someone bid on my dakar with 5 seconds remaining on the auction & won.

Hooray.

In the auction I asked for £100 deposit to be paid within 24 hours of the auction end.

I sent an email at 12.39pm the day of the auction end requesting the deposit within the enxt 24 hours.

24 hours of auction end was yesterday at 12.15pm.

After 24 hours he hadn't made contact.

I sent an other email yesterday (around 5pm) asking for him to get in contact as it was over 24 hours since the auction end.

Still no response.

He lives in Germany and has a feedback score of 10.

I'm thinknig that he's just decided not to buy the bike and, as you can't give negative feedback any more, he's just deciding not to make contact.

I'm thinking this as he bid with 5 seconds to spare so he was definitely online when the auction ended and he therefore knew he had won.

Should I give him till 12.15pm today (i.e. 48 hours after auction end) to pay the deposit. Would you give longer than that? Woudl you just say, forget him & offer it to the next higher bidder - Who has emailed me since the auction end to say he's still interested??

If you're feeling generous then I'd give him a few days as not everyone is online 24/7. The guy who bid on my Ducati did the same thing, he bid within the last minute, then claimed his son used his account and that he didn't want the bike. If I could have been arsed I could have looked into forcing him to pay, but life's too short.

If he ends up not wanting the bike, make sure you get your listing fee from him.

Not necessarily, he could have used something like lotsnipe.

However, it's out of order if your instructions were clear. I'd send him a polite message giving him a bit more time, and then relist or offer to the second bidder.

Report it to Ebay and then relist.

I'd offer it to next buyer now - he's had more than enough chances.

Well, I've just tried phoning the bloke in Germany and I'm not getting thru' my phone keeps coming up with Number Not Recognised.

Looking at ebay's rules on Second Chance Offers, if I offer it to the second higheset bidder, I'll get charged for 2 listings, unless the highest bidder says tha he backed out of hte initial auction, and as I can't get hold of him I doubt he'll do that!

Does anyone know the button to press on Ebay to find Fees incurred for an item?

Life's too short to faff about with idiots. Offer it to the next highest bidder.

It's rules like that, that make Ebay ridiculous - clearly you only offer a 2nd chance offer when your bidder backs out or causes problems (very unlikely to be something the seller WANTS). So why do they make you pay for the privilege of being shafted?
