Default Jammed Givi Box

Got a brand spanking new givi box

After some fiddling to test its capacity in my living room anaging to squeeze two full face helmets into the box.

Won't open

Its unlocked.. pressing on mechism doesnt release the clip...

Any advice?

Trying to avoid undue force here...

Take it to the shop get them to open it and demand a new one! That way they can see its stuck and cant argue with it being faulty.

I have noticed with mine that if i force TOO much stuff in the clip can't lift off over the latch (I should note my box is an older one, but I assume the mechanism is the same). i'd try pushing down on the box lid to make sure it is fully closed. also, on my box the button releases th box from the rack, not opens the lid! are you sure you are trying to open it correctly?

Cheers.. my efforts were to separate.. the pushing down (and closer together) actually worked.

Cheers problem solved.

not so happy with how flimsy these top boxes are.. was expectig plastic i couldnt bend so easily with my bare hands

If they are still made to the same quality as mine, it will be fine. You want a bit of flex otherwise it would crack too easily. I've had many many miles of use from mine, and my dad did before me too. If you want to see what a cheap box is like, buy a Nonfango - now they really are poo! Givi are good quality mate, you made a good buy.

My suzuki (rebadged givi) unlocks the opposite way to what I was expecting it to- took me ages to work that one out!

Had my flatmate idiot check it for me

after further investigation it turns out that a large and a medium helmet do indeed lock the latch shut, I hope that the combination of small and large is okay as my missus has a tiny head. Its 45l one so was expecting a teensy bit more leeway. Fitting it all on tomorrow weather permitting.

I think you've found the limit for the 45. I looked at them but eventually decided to err on the side of caution and went for the 52.

I'm sure you've tried, but I find sometimes that helmets etc will fit better on their side (put a cloth in to avoid marking).

My only real critcism of the Givi's is that they are something of a triumph of styling over practicality. The corners are too rounded, for the given width and length etc they could be much more practical if they were a bit nearer to a square box.

Otherwise they are a lot tougher than you might think.

I have a 52 and cannot fit 2 Caberg flip fronts in there no matter how much a wiggle them about, and I have a tiny Little Pea Head, hence the user name. I can fit 2 x 24 sachet boxes of Felix cat food sachets in there though, so at least the cat is happy.
