high wind riding

went out late this afternoon for a wee run got about an hour done when the rain started 70mph gusts lashes of rain and failing light, leaved roads and retarded drivers. Brilliant loved every minute of it, only thing I can't quite get used to is full beam on wet visor blindness 1,2,3 second gaps in vision. Faith, the little voice in your head telling you to ignore the voice in your head.
Anyone else venture out tonight, 'Twas very entertaining.
Oh and the re-waterproofing of my textiles seems to have worked.

I'm slowly getting back, only commuting for the moment but the wind is a b****, leaves are everywhere...
Got surprised by a strong gust at a set of lights, luckily had my foot down so nothing happened.
The Ice Cream run will sure be fun if it keeps up like this

Must be quite a conversation going on inside your helmet with all these little voices speaking to you
I know where you are coming from regarding the momentry vision loss and I suppose that is what is called"Blind Faith" which is OK if you know the road but can be bloody scarey if its a strange road and you end up braking on an unkown wet surface in the dark.

rapid blinking..... gets ur eyes use to the dark again very quickly.. it takes practise but it does work.

Don't look into high beams in the first place! Just look off to the left like at your curb.

What did you use to rewaterproof your textiles?

I remember my 2nds day on DAS (the day before my test) I went for a ride into the derbyshire dale....gust of wind were blowing me 1m sideways, you had to lean into the wind just to go in a straight line.

sorry didn't explain about blindness, loss of vision due to headlight hitting all the water on the visor and the droplets dispersing and magnifying the light, not to do with getting night vision back or looking into the beams.

Shonadoll I used nikwax detergent to wash the gear then reproofing spray to coat it. You do get a in wash reproofer but it messes up the breathability as it coats the outside and inside in the machine

Aah, brilliant, will bin my wash in stuff then. I bought the spray so will use that, cheers.

Dont mind the big raindrops as much as the drizzle or spray in heavy traffic, could not see ferk all on the way home last Tues night on the motorway.. combination of spray and the salty gunge that was on the roads. Riding blind for most of the way.. decided just to sit behind a car with bright tail lights to guide me!
I use a Wurth treatment thingy on my visor for rain, works fine to keep it clear till the road grime builds up.
