Default Putting Zuky to bed

I cleaned Zuky today and decided that it is probably the last time in a while she will be out on tarmac. I simply don't enjoy the cold and riding in the cold I would hate so she is going to sleep for the winter.

Ride mag says to hibernate your bike you should:-
  • Clean the bike (done)
  • Take battery off or put on optimate (done)
  • Drain fuel tank (or put Silkolene Pro FST in tank)
  • Blank off air intakes (so little furry creatures dont make their home in it??)
  • Coat collector box with WD40
  • Put paper between brake discs to prevent them from sticking
  • But blocks of wood under tyres to prevent contact with cold floor
This would mean my bike is better treated than my dog, are these necessary things to do?

Shouldn't drain the tank. You should brim it so that it can't rust. And put in a fuel preservative to keep the petrol fresh.

My bike doesn't have a collector so can't do that. I could put paper in between the pads but I need to be moving my bike about in the garage. Rather than blocks of wood I'm gonna put it on the paddock stands to keep the weight off the tyres. Don't think anything will be getting in the air intake.

  • Clean the bike (done)
  • Take battery off or put on optimate (done)
  • Fill tank to brim & put a fuel stabiliser in
  • Blank off air intakes (so little furry creatures dont make their home in it??)
  • But blocks of wood under tyres to prevent contact with cold floor
  • Coat bike with acf50
  • Cover bike up(& tuck it in)
  • Change oil & filter on returning to road
