weddings - Warning, rant

maybe im a grumpy git (well, i know i am), or maybe its cos i worked at more than 350 weddings.

Why are they so stupid. People waste vast amounts of cash, become all religious for the 3 weeks before the wedding then probably never again. Hardly anyone gets married for the right reasons anymore and all they do is cause grief.

after seeing so many they all seem the same now, so whenever someone says dont you think thats different, or cool, i cant hekp but think of the 50+ other weddings ive seen with the same thing.

what do you do for a living?

I get married 14.11.09...

We are doing it because we do love each other and personally believe it is important to bring children up in a married environment... dont get me wrong I am NOT comparing qualities of parenting.

ours is'nt different at all.. it has one or two kwerks, and yes it is costing a fortune, but I only plan on doing it once...and as such I am happy to pay the monies needed... despite the stupid amounts of money...

We are religious also so it is important in the eyes of our religion also...Its a celebration of a couple joining together and agreeing to spend thier lives together, which I actually like the idea of.

Which is why we chose to go on a really spanky holiday, get married out there and have a good old knees up (and a party - oo errr) when we got back.

Neither of us are religious one little bit, so the whole church thing seemed utterly pointless - even though it did nark the parents hehehehe.

finishing a PhD, but i used to work at a dedicated wedding venue.

I don't care where James and I get married (if we ever do), to be honest i'd rather us go away so it is just me and him rather than have all my family there arguing... saves the whole stress of who to put where.

When/if we do then it will be because it is the right time for us and what we both want, plus if (which i doubt) we will ever have kids i'd rather have a stable environment for them to be brought up in.

If you think that marriage isn't worth it... then you obviously haven't found the right person

thats not what i think, what gets to me is how they are often blown out of all proportion and nothing to do with what they should be for.
