Default that felt good!

today i removed the broken lh front footrest hanger and replace it with the new one, i was slightly concerned as closer inspection showed the gear change rod (not sure what its called, has a ball joint either end of it and is what changes gear when u use the gear change lever) was slightly bent.

so, new bracket on, all tightened up, battery back in...its not been started since 6th november, vroom vroom, about the 9th attempt it started...let it idle for a few minutes....

went round the block....slowly...to see if it went up and down the gears ok, and it felt fine on the gear changes right the way up and all the way down.

the front does not feel quite right but i cant see what the problem is thus far, one of the bar end weights is bent so this may have something to do with it, time will tell.

it felt bloody good riding, all be it for only 5 mins and slowly, after all this time. also felt good fixing it myself.

once ive got a mirror ill get a new mot and hopefully be back on the road.

and tomorrow will hopefully be able to get the engineers report as not had it yet and fingers crossed it doesnt say something ive not spotted/felt on the ride and is mainly cosmetic.

it stunk of petrol, but im guessing this is as i still have the larger (155) main jets in with the standard exhuast and filter so that will be the next job swapping the jets back to standard although it did ride lovely...cant wait to be back on 2 wheels

Very much doubt the endweight would be that noticeable - have you checked the forks?
Gear shift lever link rod thing - if it works leave it. Saying that I've got one on order (only 6 quid) and I'm not sure if mine was working but it was seriously bent.

yep gonna leave the bar as it is

know how I check the forks?....ive used my eyes so far...had a good look at the forks and brakes / disc etc can see any thing that looks bent/out of place. bounced the front suspension whilst on the bike with the brake on all seems fine, but as i said it doesnt quite feel right when riding so how can i check? any other "proper" way??

best way is to remove the legs, as mister c can vouch, u cant see slight bends without them being removed.

So it's a boltat the top outer side and two on the bottom yolk. You're also gonna have to remove the wheel and undo calipers (2 bolts on each) then just slip 'em out.
