Default New SIDI Vortice

I tried on some of the new SIDI Vortice boots, good quality boots, felt very well made and much stronger than the older version I bought a few years ago(V2). The adjusters are spot on. Quite lary in white but thought the black ones weren't too bad.

I was just about to buy them when I asked if they do ceramic toe sliders as the metal ones may be an issue on track (titanium sliders are banned because they spark up or can mark the track but these are a softer alloy with no spark). They guy checked and they don't. Also the track day companies may have a problem as they mostly state no metal sliders. Considering these boots are really aimed for the sports bike market who are the main track day go'ers I wonder if SIDI have shot themselves in the foot on this one (hehe) - no pun intended! SO if you are thinking of a pair and do track days you might want to reconsider for now. The older sliders may fit off the Corsa but that will stop the venting system working. May check out Daytona's at Excel

How much are we looking at? Are they a bit wider in the ankle than the V2s? Mine are narrow and I have a right job getting my leathers and calf into the bloody things!

they've slimmed the ankle down a lot but the calf is adjustable. They are £260 - £300, 2 different styles (one has permanant open vent around calf I think as well as vents on foot and toe you can close like the cheaper one). Expensive for SIDI.

Far too expensive for me, and if theyve slimmed the ankle down even further, then its definitely a no go.

Where do all the fatties get their boots from? Im not a fatty myself but I have pretty wide calf muscles and just trying the boot on, on its own is fine. Try adding some leather in there and its absolutely useless.

To be fair they are pretty adjustable so you can get a range of sized legs to fit in, the slimming is of the mechanism not the space. Daytona are also very adjustable as the inner boot has velcro strips for adjustability
