Another of my bikes that needs to be shifted to make some room because I don't have the time to do anything to it.
1982 Yamaha SR250 Special, a bit of a low level cruiser with ape-hanger bars etc. these things are 33bhp friendly for all you lovely folks who abide by that ridiculous law. It looks a bit like this but in black not vibrant red : ![]() You'll see the word 'Exciter' on the sidepanel of this particular bike, ignore it. Yamaha would have been prosecuted under the Trades Descriptions Act if they'd dared to use that name in the UK, my bike has the word 'Special' on it, which is lovely if you like licking windows. Reliable, cheap and easy to maintain they are - exciting they are not! This would make an ideal first bike for someone who passed their test on a CG125 but wants something a bit quicker. The best thing about this bike is the seat height - all of Snow White's 7 little friends could have been hairy bearded bikers if they'd each bought one of these (Hells Angels, Disney Chapter anyone?) My one is black and registered on an X plate. I got it with the intention of building a little cafe racer to have fun on back roads with and because I like building funny little bikes. It has newish tyres, replacement shocks, new chain and sprockets and a new aftermarket legal sounding silencer. There's about 45,000 miles on the clock but it starts and runs fine. The guy who had it before me was a bloke in his 60s who used to plod along the A14 from Suffolk to Northampton to see his girlfriend on it (when you're that age you'll do anything for a leg-over I suppose, even ride an SR250 that far). It's in quite decent condition, not perfect but good for age and miles. All the chromework is in very good nick and the tank isn't bad either. I have key and V5 in my name, but the bike is SORNed at present. If you're looking for a small winter hack then it's ideal. I've got another one of these bikes that I modified to look a bit flat-trackerish which I've used as my winter transport for the past couple of years and it's been brilliant for that. I will put a new MOT on it and give it an oil/filter change before anyone collects for an extra 50 quid. I know it'll pass the MOT with little or no work. Price - £500 Pm me before forming a queue please ![]() |

Sure, I'll drag it from the depths of the garage and take a few pics for you.
It may have a rack in the photos, but that is coming off because it belongs on my other SR250. |

This is a different bike to your lovely Cafe-racered one, I take it?
