Default Friend has just bought herself a new bike from DKs

What do I need to look for.

I told her that they had a terrible reputation, but would she listen.

They need to uncrate/build her brand new 636. So I guess the obvious things to check from a DK bike is clocks use MPH and the headlight shines the right direction.

What else distinguishes an import?.

I thought DK was an official Kwak dealer so they would be UK spec????

DK are a franchised Kawasaki dealer now. They are not allowed under the terms of their franchise contract to sell parallel imported Kawasakis, only genuine spec UK ones.

I'd make sure it's been bolted together correctly, like checking caliper retaining bolts and front wheel spindle torque - check the handlebars have been installed correctly too. The back of the bike is usually all built up at factory, it's the front they leave semi-stripped to be able to crate it up.

Cheers for telling me they are not allowed to use parallel imports etc. I guess Kwak must have sorted the UK price to them to make other channels less attractive.

she tells me that the deal they gave her on her old R1 was such that it made it more expensive to buy second hand than new.

interesting. her text reads "New racing green Ninja 636R"

So is it old stock in a crate or does my friend not know what she has bought

guess it must be the new ZX-6R

credit crunch x cash flow x dealer targets = good deals

Ah, that's alright then. Kawasaki have never made a 636R
