Default Bike issues

After a lovely super cold winter! Well still is sort of.. Took the bike out for a ride last night, after 2-3 month gap.
Noticed couple of things..

Bike Facts
Mileage - 44k
Last Service - God knows! Great info provided by previous owner ...

Issues:
1: Sometimes when moving off and releasing the clutch as go on the throttle, there is a strange scraping noise like from the gearbox maybe? Like a metal scraping sound
2: Bike won't idle, cuts out straight away, unless ride with choke 1/6th of the way on so tickover at 2-2.5k rpm which obviously is loud and not too great!
3: Battery is goosed, getting a new one however

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

Scraping noise could be release bearing or a dodgy chain/sprocket.

Bad tickover could be throttle stop set wrong, i.e just turn the tickover up a bit. A carb balance and general service will probably help matters a lot.

To do full engine service inc. valve shims £100 is what I would want.

Is it an S or N?

I work at home on an informal basis, so no overheads to pay. A dealer would probably want double that.
