Default Health and Safety has gone potty

Today I had to read a risk assessment and method statement before issuing a work permit to allow a cleaner to mix detergent in a bucket.

You should come and work at my place. As long as we're working they really don't care what we get up to

I've had to write instructions for someone to lift a box on to a table, with a full risk assessment.

God no. the check the current COCHH register to check the detergent is ISO 9002 compliant and source traceable, and then the trained operative wearing the correct protective equipment, (under supervision or within immediate contact of aid - see separate H+S risk assessment attached), fills the bucket with the correct amount of warm water, (temp checked with calibrated thermometer), the correct dose of aforesaid detergent is added (see method statement for correct procedure) yada yada yada.

It doesn't go on to say what they do next. Mop the floor I guess.

With a H&S approved mop I hope? Plastic handle, not wood, so no danger of splinters!

Yes, but did you include full mitigation to reduce the residual risk?

I 'delegated' the task to someone else
