Default Weird indicator fault - they became hazard warning lights

Had a weird one on the way home last night. Went to overtake some cars, so indicated right and...both sides came on! Just like having switched on the hazards (this is a K3). Experimenting on the way home showed that this happened whether I indicated right or left and that the hazards themselves still worked fine. Made me look very indecisive so I resorted to hand signals instead.

When I got home I stopped the engine with the kill switch, wheeled it into the garage, tried again and they were fine. Very odd.

Anyone else come across this as a fault? If so any ideas on how to stop it doing it again?

Cheers.

The only real point in the circuit that both sides share is the switch, from memory (I'll dig out the diagram in a sec).

Sounds like a faulty indicator switch to me.

EDIT: Yup, indicator switch & hazard switch are the only places that current could come from & power the indicators. You're looking at the green wire from either switch.

Possibly, but shot diodes wouldn't be intermittent really.

Cheers guys.

I'll take the switch gear off tonight and see if there is anything obviously amiss.

No experience with the SV, but something else to have a look at is all of the electrical connectors and earths. From experience, some electrical systems will do weird things (eg lights flashing when they should not be) if connectors and particularly earths are not right.

Cheers
