I am having REAL issues finding a pair of boots to fit with my leathers.
I picked myself a new set of leathers up this christmas and theyre a pretty good fit around the bottom of the leg. The Sidi Verts I have at the moment are a real pain to try and get on with them - theres just not enough room around the ankle to get the leathers under and I cant zip them up I went out boot shopping today, tried on nearly all Alpinestars boots, a couple of Sidi boots, Puma boots and TCS boots. None I could get to fit with my leathers. Hein Gericke boots did have a wide ankle but then I found them digging right in at the base of the ankle where their support meets the leather. The only boots which have fit me are MX boots. I tried a pair of Alpinestars tech 3 boots and they look good, feel good to fit my foot and leg but im seriously concerned as to whether ill be able to use them. Theyve got a fairly hefty sole, and are quite thick on top of the foot. Has anyone got any ideas what I can do? I desperately need a new pair of boots but I just cant find anything that will fit. I cant think of many other boots to try! I did actually buy the MX boots from HG but im thinking of returning them as Im not sure theyre suitable. HELP!!!! |

Sounds like the leg length is too long, leathers should fit above the ankle ball joint.

I tend to just lift the leathers onto my knee which lifts the leather above the ball joint. I still cant seem to get them on

My recomendation would be for Daytona boots as they all come with some kind of calf adjustment to accomodate larger calfs. I've kitted out some extremely large calfed keen cyclists with Daytonas in the past. I've owned mine for 7 years, done huge amunt of miles in them and they still keep me warm and dry. |

Judging by waht I've seen of Sidi, TCS and Puma boots is that the hard plastic bits and metal hinge parts destroy your heel plates. I know this because I bought some Oxtars (now known as TCS) a couple of years ago and noticed this on my on own bikes, since then mates of mine have reported the same thing happening with theirs, the worst being Pumas.

Morning all,
I had a problem trying to find boots that fit properly. I was looking at my first set of leathers and boots but because I have a large calf, it was getting a real struggle. I tried Alpinestars and Sidi boots but they wouldn't zip up. I ended up with TCX SS Sport boots that fit like a glove mate. Dont know if they are any good yet but comfort = 110%. Mick |

I wear Alpinestars Ridge boots as they have Velcroe (Hook and Loop) closing and no zips , they don`t look Uber-Sporty but they also don`t look Old fashioned either . No silly bits of plastic on them and they are waterproof as well . Nice price from J&S Accessories as well .
