A COUNTY cricket team has scrapped its name after complaints from outraged Muslims and Jews.
Middlesex Crusaders will play one-day cricket next season as The Panthers.




well they can feck orf if they try complaining about the celtic crusaders, now we are in the super league

Okay, deep breath & let's not start marching anyone to Belsen just yet.

The chief exec of the cricket club is quoted as saying, "“The name was nothing whatsoever to do with the Crusades in the 11th and 12th century" yet there's a photo of an fan wearing a t-shirt with a knight in armour on it.

If there was an, for example, irish team trying to promote irish football to the kids & they called their team, I dunno, the docklands bombers - I think I'd be a tad pi$$ed off.

So, y'know, pretty please, let's not start with this minority-bashing again!

But IRA bombing are within living mermory and the Crusades where hundreds of years ago when mankind didn't know any better.

So does that also mean that the PC Brigade will ask Saracens Rugby club to change their name as it was a Middle Ages nickname giving to those who professed the religion Islam, by Europeans.



What about the use of the word Moor, again used to describe people of several historic and modern populations of Muslim (and earlier non-Muslim) people of Berber descent from North Africa, some of whom came to inhabit the Iberian Peninsula.

So is Dartmoor and Bodmin moor, now respectfully called Dart and Bodmin.



I am not trying to start any minority bashing threads, just saying that this country has gone PC mad,

surely being PC is racist because it show that there is a differance between races, im not racist and i believe everyone is equal but i cant see how this isnt racism by the government

Er, the government have nothing to do with it! The club received a couple of complaints and decided to act on it. Everyone's saying "PC" but maybe they just figure that if their name puts people off, it'll lower their gates. After all, the man says himself that it's a crusade to draw people into the sport.
