Default Road sliding

I had a go at this sport yesterday, courtesy of some twit who pulled out on me. Headlights on and loud cans don't disqualify you, apparently.

I somehow managed to avoid his car but decked the bike in the process. Anyone got any tips on heavy braking and swerving on damp roads whilst staying upright? I'd just dropped off my gfs son at school 50 yards up the road. Thank God he wasn't still on the back. A passer-by called the police so they attended the scene, and I've got a witness who saw everything. Hopefully I can claim everything back off the numpty driver's insurance.

The bike has a snapped brake pedal and scuffs on the usual areas down one side. Seems to have come off quite lightly. I reckon my kit is more damaged, with the jacket and trousers and boots having abrasion tears and scuffs and I'm annoyed cos I only bought it in November. I'm somewhat bruised down my right hip and leg.

I've fallen off at low speeds before but its quite scary how hard you hit the ground when you lock up the front wheel whilst trying to swerve.

Just thought I'd share.

don't heavy brake whilst swerving.

After a incident with a oncoming overtaking car last year I realised just what fun it can be to have a quicker turning bike when obstacles appear in the road.

Hope you and the bike mend quickly. There are too many idiots out there, so well done for missing them

talk about luck with the little one! im sure you gf wouldnt have been all that sympathetic if he had been on the back! and well done for avoiding the car, you/the bike may have come off far worse if you hadnt locked up and hit it!

Not kiddin. I don't even wanna think about what might have happened.

Yeah I've been thinking about the evasive action. I know you can't brake and swerve but i'm not sure what other options I had. Certainly didn't have time to consider all this beforehand!

all things considered you seem to have done the best you could! Bike damage is limited, you only have a bruise or two so all in all you came off well!

Sorry to hear it. You back on the road yet?

The proper term is "tarmac surfing"

Yeah allswell that ends well, an unpleasant experience but your okay which is the main thing and you have a witness which is a bonus. Now go to a bike shop your friendly with and get some fake quotes!
