Default Zapped by a speed camera

Hi there,

I was coming through the Limehouse link tunnel this morning when one of my front indicators fell off, the indicator lights on the dash flashed and the alarm triggered once too, probably as a result of the change in resistance in the circuit I guess, as I think the indicator bulb has also blown.

Anyway, with all this flashing and bleeping I was momentarily startled and caught the throttle just a blip, unfortunately it was as I was passing a speed camera in the tunnel, which flashed (twice).

So it looks like I've got a ticket coming, annoying after the efforts I've made not to get any for the last few years! My question is do you guys think it will be worthwhile explaining what happened to cause me to speed up through the trap, or should I just take it on the chin and pay the fine and take the points?

Wait and see if you get a ticket first.

they will have heard every excuse, so I seroiusly doubt you'll get any joy with that, besides letting you off doesn't make them any money.............

Cheers Mark.

If you want to take it to court and feel that your blip has a fighting chance, then go for it matey.

They will hear plenty of excuses as to whys and how it happened but in the end it was speeding, wasn't it.

My father has just been nabbed too though and they sent him on a speed awareness course, resulting in no points being added to his licence, the course still cost £60 though.

Yeah, sadly that was my gut feeling about it really, but as long as they don't charge me more for explaining it might be worth a try. What I should have added to my original post was a question if anyone else has ever appealed against a "zap" successfully!

Speed awareness course is interesting. I'd be quite happy to do that instead of getting points as I've made a big effort to keep the speeds down when commuting over the last few years. And yes, if it went to a court of law and I was asked if I'd gone through a speed trap past the speed allowed I'd have to say "yes" but I'm wondering if they ever consider extenuating circumstances

depends if there's a picture of him with his chin on the mudguard hand outstretched to catch the indicator, alarm blaring. In which case you'll just be looking a D.W/O.D.C&A swin

I went through a camera a little quick when I was caught in the tractor-beam of the spaceship of the LGM who wanted to probe me. Magistrate let me off, so you've got a good chance!
