Default Riding Abroad

Do you have to be 21+ to ride abroad on your own bike?

Me & few friends are considering it over the summer, France (for as short as possible) - Holland - Germany. (Haven't planned a route yet was just an idea)

Cheers,
James

Holland is rubbish for bikes, I'd go France - Southern Belgium (Ardennes) - Germany if you were thinking of heading out that way. No idea about the age thing but I think you should be ok, hopefully someone in the know will be along shortly.

NO, just need a full licence. If it is a restricted licence, then obviously ride in accordance with that licence to save any hassle.

In most countries you need to be 18 or over to ride a bike over 125cc.

Thanks for the heads up on that, yeah its a restricted license and would keep the restrictor in to save hassle, just have to double check when bike is sorted that I have the insurance for it

I believe you can go anywhere provided you ride within the correct (full only, I'm guessing) licence.

As long as you are riding a restricted bike on a restricted licence, then you will have no problems. It doesn't matter what <country you're going to> says about licences, you are licensed to ride your bike, and if you're just visiting (i.e touring) you won't have a problem.

Besides, you're British. Hit them with your passport and carry on.

I believe you are correct with this it must be a FULL UK, EU, Canadian or American licence to ride in France. The 18 age limit only affects the French.

A UK provisional licence is only valid in the UK........
