Default Gixxer suspension upgrade

I am haggling for a set of forks yokes wheel and discs from a gsxr1000 k1 02model for my k3 pointy, just wondered if anyone can tell me if they go on without to much hassle, as I understand from hunting on the forum that any k series after srad do, but wondered if the earlier 1000's will also.
If so what calipers fit these forks as the ones that he had have gone and there aren't many on ebay for that year.

Is it a good mod or would I be better looking for a later set (k4 onwards) 600/750.

600 and 750 are probably better suited than 1000. I think K4-6 would be the easiest as there are lots of bits out there for them.

Another thing to bear in mind is that the 04 onwards gsxr front ends have radial brakes which are a big upgrade from the earlier gixxers...

The six potters on the k2 would be enough I would think, my main worry is whether the stem would be suitable for a pointy.

Thanks amnesia, fairly straight forward then. Well I'll be needing new brake discs and forks serviced if I don't go ahead so phoned a suzuki dealer for prices and for new discs and fork servicing is over 500 big ones, my fork sliders are in a horrible rusty pitted state aswell and I was told if new ones are needed that will be another 580 so that makes a gixxer swap all the more apealing.

The stem is a straight swap, dunno about steering stops lining up though.

Alternatively you could find out if anyone has good condition standard bits left over from a GSXR swap...

[cough....me...cough]
