Waste of effort to be honest with you. A little more noise, but nothing significant.

Search for de-snorkeling the airbox. That's free, and will have a similar result.

As you have a curvy, then it does make a bit more noise, not really noticable to others but does sound nice to the rider, if you have something like a BMC RS race fitler fitted (that's the one for a complete exhaust system/ won't work with a slip-on) then it does smooth the air flow a little more as well.

Cheers Mark.

not really wise on a standard setup IMHO, I've seen some real horror stories done to airboxes by "have a go's" and the corresponding running problems.

People fail to realise it's a balance between the air filter/ carb jets (or injector mapping) and exhaust, each effects the other to a degree, whilst adding a slip-on to the SV falls within the " not much effect" range, the wrong airbox mod can seriously effect performace.

Cheers Mark.

Don't bother desnorkelling unless you want to play about with jetting. Lots of hassle for little gain.

Tank raisers don't do much either, a slight amount more noise, but no increase in flow with the stock filter. For a worthwhile mod, remove the foam from under the tank.

Worth a mention:
Curvy (99-02) bikes have the air intake at the top of the airbox, hence why raising the tank increased the space air could flow in when running a free-flowing filter.

Pointy (03-08 naked, 03+ faired) Had the air intake in the front of the airbox with a snorkle to stop rain etc getting in. This is wehere people refer to "de-snorkeling" or "fitting the SV1000 snorkle"

Gladius: No clue, not worked on one yet

In either of the above cases the change makes relativly little difference, noise aside, without being balanced out with exhaust, air filter and fulling work, as mentioned by Rictus.
