Assuming I have a valid car MOT, and suspect that the car won't pass the next MOT, and get the MOT done BEFORE (11 months after) the current one expires, and the car fails.....
Does that mean I have a valid MOT still, because of the original one which has not yet expired? Or does the new failure override the present one? (odd question, I know, but I'm thinking of selling the car "with" an MOT) |

You just need a valid MOT so the new fail does not overide the old ticket. There may be a separate issue about whether your car is roadworthy or not,but thats nothing to do with the MOT.

the new system will record the failure, you may get away with the producer part if called upon to do it, but the vehicle will have been proved below standard by the test, and this information will be available to police threw their system.
So you'll have a proved unroadworthy vehicle which of course you can get done for at anytime. Cheers Mark.

What biker biggles said.
Also If you have a valid MOT certificate and want to do it early as long as you provide the current MOT cert they will post date the new MOT certificate up to 1 month which in effect would give you a 13 month MOT.

Thanks,
Basically I'm toying with the idea of getting a leased car through work, but I reckon the emissions on the current one will warrant a replacement exhaust and/or cat at the MOT in May, so I'll get it done ASAP just to "test the water" If its up the chuff to the value of several hundreds I'd rather know sooner than later! A new exhaust might double the value of the damned thing! |
