With the afterthought from my off at the weekend, I am contemplating the breaking of my bike to sell the parts, in order to put towards a replacement bike.
Was wondering what notifications to the DVLA and insurance company I need to make in order to do so? If any. |

get your insurance suspended. When you sell the frame the V5 goes with it and you fill out the V5 and post onto DVLA.

You don't have to tell the insurance company other than to cancel the policy and claim back any premium you can. On the V5 (registration document) there is a box to tick if you scrap the bike. Fill in and send to DVLA, job done, however if the frame is straight you will get more for it if you sell it with the V5 still intact. Only downside to that is the moral one, there is generally only one reason to buy a frame and log book and your profit will generally be somebody else's loss.....
