Default Alarm issues

Hi, Im having some problems with my alarm and thought some of you may know how to help.

I have a Meta 357t v2 alarm fitted to my k4 sv650s and it has been working perfectly up untill now. Basically what is happening is, the alarm is going off on its own at random times when untouched. The alarm will go off for about a minute and then stop again.

Also i have noticed, if i turn the alarm on and then physically try and set it off by moving the bike around, its not responding.

I know nothing about alarms so any suggestions would be great.

Many thanks,

James

Could be a power issue. How's your battery? Checked all the fuses?

Battery is fine yeah, Ill check fuses tomorrow. How did you diagnose your sensor "going up the ****ter" as you say lol

Much apreciated,

James

p.s there is this wire that is not connected to anything, and comes out of the loom of the alarm thingy. Is this normal? it looks like its closed at the end but perhaps it was a spade connecter thats broken off or something??

James,
That wire might be the "aerial" used to pickup the code from the fob.

When the alarm goes off you can diagnose what caused it.

If the alarm goes off it will emit three beeps as opposed to two when you disarm it. If this happens the LED will flash a code telling you what set off the alarm.

The flashes indicate the following:
Movement sensor - 1 pulse on, 3 second pause
Negative input or loop circuit (usually under the pillion seat) - 2 pulses on, 3 second pause
Ignition sensing - 3 pulses on, 3 second pause
Self powered (12volt supply removed) - 4 pulses on, 3 second pause

You can find full instructions for this system here.

I think my alarm has malfunctioned too

It flattened the battery the other day and caused a lot of hassle!!

watch out for a flat battery. If possible turn it off to preserve battery life.
