Hi Ive just joined this site, although I have looked at the posts on here many times for various things and always found it great for all things sv. However Ive not been able to find anything here (or anywhere else) as to how much effect a dyno kit will have on a sv650. I have a 99 fully faired sv650 with k&n filter and carbon can co. can, (which sounds awsome although not entirely legal the mot man tells me). I have a dyno guy local to me who reckons a dyno kit could get me 5-8bhp from the bike. If anyone has done this to their bike I could do with some advise before splashing out.
Cheers ![]() |

He's talking $hit.
Any minimal gains you MAY get from a slip on pipe will not be helped by a dynojet kit. The K+N filter is no different to standard. I don't like the dynojet kits, the needles wear your emulsion tubes out oval and you can get the same effect with £5 worth of mikuni parts!

ok thanks for that, anything else you would say was worth doing to it performance wise or just leave alone?

Leave it alone. Or maybe the pointy cam swap if you must. But playing with the SV for power is a daft idea.
5-8bhp is not easy nor cheap no matter what a guy trying to sell you something says.

If you've fitted an aftermarket air filter and exhaust a dynojet may improve smoothness, economy, general running, and perhaps 1 or 2bhp gain at best.

No it's mental to get a fivers worth of main jets put in.
A slip on can doesn't gain much because of the standard downpipes.
