My friend today went for a ride. On a few occasions he got a bit excitable and perhaps went faster than the law allows. Coming over the brow of a hill, a police car was on the other side of the road. Thinking that it was too late to slow down he just kept the throttle pinned open, hypothesizing that by the time the police turned around and accelerated to somewhere near the top speed of a mid-size twin, he would be long gone.
And it was fine. And it happened again, on a different road (poor obs?) whilst overtaking a few cars. He used the same technique but got paranoid and went homewards, by a different route. Is it best to slow the **** down when you see the police like this? In this case they would have heard the bike coming up quite quick thanks to a baffle-free stubby, or get past and gone before they can catch you and assume they can't read your numberplate because it's too small? |

Personally I would reign it in a bit in case they radio to another car along the lines of "give this wally a tug will you" , he puts himself and others in danger with the possibility of being too worried about the Law doing a U-Turn and coming after him . He might be looking too much in his mirrors to see a danger ahead , better to get a telling off if they do rather than being stuffed into a box with a few lillies thrown on the top .

Get out of there, but they don't bother turn around and chase. Only the traffic patrol ones might bother, but even they cant be arsed most of the time. |

If he wanted to be really smart he could do a U turn and follow the cops for a while from a descrret distance. if he does get a tug he can say "but i was behind you all the time, maybe someone with similar bike/gear to me occifer"

ease off, it doesn't matter about returning to the speedlimit though providing they aren't holding a speed gun. Just don't fly past like a mentalist. As soon as they're a bit away nail it.

Always slow down, they cant do your mate for speeding if your mate was coming in the opposite direction unless he admits to it. But if they turn around or radio ahead theres nothing to stop another officer getting him further on. They're not dumb they'll know your mate was speeding but its a matter of what they can prove.
