Default Pin through Rear Wheel nut..Sign of Racing?

Hey all,

I'm a new rider and I'm trying to buy a 2001 sv650s. The bike is in excellent condition but the only thing that concerns me is that it has a pin & casing mounted on the rear wheel nut/axle (I don't have the actual picture but it looks something like the picture below). There are no other signs of it being raced (no hole in brake caliper or oil drain plug, new tires..etc), so I'm just wondering if I should be worried about it. Thanks guys.

That's a cotter pin to stop the nut coming undone, not a lockwire hole

even if it was raced, doesnt mean you need to steer clear. Mine is raced and I reckon its better looked after than most road bikes.

if the bikes a U.S. model thats been imported they have to have these pins as a legal requirement, i wouldnt worry about it

+1 as long as its been well looked after it shouldn't be a problem. Personally if i was using mine to race i'd make sure everything was in perfect nick with it.
