Default Crash bungs - Best option?

Hey,

I realise that this has been a topic of discussion many times, but couldnt find the threads.

So... which crash bungs would people advise, as I really should get some!

Also anyone got any advice on double-bubble screens or sports touring screens?!

Cheers, Bokki

Just go for Motosliders crash bungs. Sv-racing parts shop on evil bay do them. (he's a member of svrider.com and has a thread there too).

Screens, i had a Fabbri one but there are cheaper ones just as good, check ebay again.

This Thread discusses the motosliders from when i was trying to decide on what i wnted to get hold of.

I bought mine direct from motosliders and they shipped pretty quickly.

Since my off the insurance people replaced them with the newer design R&G ones which use the same point as the motosliders to connect, but they arent quite as solid looking as the mjotoslider ones, i may get another set of those in the near future.

R&Gs snap, on impact. Motorsliders grind down so you can use them another day(not that you want to!) They just need to be tightened back up, as the nuts n bolts, slightly loose grip, after a crash. The motoslider can be spun round slowly by hand. Once tightened back up, they are as good as new, apart from a scuff. They sell replacement bungs as well, I haven't got round to fitting it though

Why is this? Which bit snaps - the plastic bung or the bolt? What do folks think is the weak point of R&Gs?

(As we have R&Gs on our SV I want to know what the weak point is so I can try to improve it. Can't stretch to replacement bungs though.)

Also, I would suggest that any bung is better than none, especially on a naked or half faired SV.

The bar can bend easily from what i've seen. I only saw one accident with R&Gs on, it wore half away and didn't snap, but the bar bent backwards into the fairing which then cracked.

Have R&G's , had a low speed off last year, thye didn't snap, but just wore down. My local dealer who dealt with repairs reckoned they prevented a lot of damage

Bear in mind the motosliders won't fit with fairing lowers without cutting the panels to make room. I've got a pair of new motosliders that haven't even been on the bike, cost me £65 Inc p&p from the states, you can have em for £50 if you want? I'm gonna buy some r&gs so I don't have to mod my recently resprayed lowers.
