Hi all, bit of advice needed. I'm about to book the race school with Ron Haslam, never done this before or been on a track, so should I book the On Track, or can I book the Premium?
I'm a little confused. Lou |

hello,
You can book straight onto the premeir course if you feel confident enough on the cbr600rr on track. The instructors will take you at your own pace but if you're really nervous, it might be better to go for the cb500's first as they show you lots of useful handling skills and braking etc before venturing onto the circuit. |

Excellent, thanks for that! I'll book the lower one then, and look to do the Premier in the Autumn.
Oooh, I'm so excited now! |

Lou, have you thought about doing a track day, with tuition, on your own bike?

I don't really want to use my own bike, not for the first time on a track, but thanks for the suggestion as now I think I'll do the 'On Track' course, then instead of going to the Premium, I'll look at this instead.

Sure, I understand. I only mentioned it as I did the Ron Haslam school on a CBR125R (wooo!) just before I took my test; and then I did the Suzuki Race School on a GSXR600 after I'd been riding for about 6 months as I wanted to have some tuition but without what I perceived to be the 'risk' of using my own bike on a track.
For both of these, but especially on the GSXR, I spent about 90% of my track time (which is always much shorter than on a 'bring your own' track day) getting used to the feel of the bike. Then just as I started building confidence it was all over. Then I did a trackday on my own bike (a GS500F at that time), and wow - what an amazing experience. An opportunity to really get to know a bike I ride all the time and to gain confidence (in myself and what my bike could do) that I could transfer straight away to my road riding. Have a great time with the Ron Haslam school, but do have a think about your next session being with your own bike. Track day doesn't mean racing, or crashing, or too fast. If you're happy to ride your bike on the public roads, with all of the associated hazards and risks, then you'll feel even safer on a closed circuit - and you can also get 1 to 1 tuition. Enjoy! |

Cheers Cazza, I'm just about to book Ron Haslam, it's only taken me 10 years to get it sorted. I'm just a bit wary of taking the Speed Triple round the track, as it cost a fortune! But I'll certainly do that the next time.

Bender has posted in the Brands Hatch 2nd July thread that he's found somewhere that will do trackday insurance - I think it was £90 (and £200 excess) - maybe something to consider when you come to do it on your pride and joy!

Hi Cazza, where did you do the Suzuki day and where did you do the day with your own bike? How much did they cost?
