Getting fed up with having to vent my spleen about my boss, I am nearing the end of my tether.
Had the day booked off today, but was asked by my boss to come in and work because one employer had left and people were off and he couldn't get cover. I told him it was half term and was looking after my kids, but could probably bring them in (I drive so its just a case of them sitting in the car and behaving* themselves) as my journey means I am finished by about 2 o'clock. What he failed to tell me was the employee (self employed) had been given the elbow (told there was no work for him despite employing two more people afterwards) and the reason he wanted me to come in was so that he could f**k off to China for a weeks holiday, despite me booking the day off back in January. This coupled with the fact that I was made to come in to work a few months back with my arm in a splint (against hospital advice) which resulted in my arm being put in a cast for a further week and a half and I am now starting to lose respect for the gaffer. * yeah right! Sorry about the rant, nearly chucked the towel in today but theres a recession on ![]()

Dude what do you do for a job? Second is there a union you can join? They can sometimes help. But you have stand up for yourself is what it comes down do, only you alone can do that. When I was facing issues I stood up for myself, they know that I won't take s*** now for them.
Maybe seek legal advice? Hire a good laywer, or go to CAB they should be able to offer advice on the employment law. I know someone who got screwed in a pay rise deal, they joined the union and spoke to employer and then they got the pay rise there meant to have got. A rant is no good if you ain't gonna do anything about, also don't to advisers ect or second line mangers and so on casue that doesn't help. |

Oh the two managers that were in the office certainly know that I had the raving hump about it, as soon as I got back to the office from my round I asked if it was alright to head home an hour early as I'd come in on my day off. I was told to wait for the senior manager to get back so i then stated that I didn't like the bullsh!t that I had been shoveled from the boss to get me to come in. Senior manager likes nothing better than to sh!t stir so I await the stand off that is bound to happen come monday morning.

OK, so your employer was happy for you to drive with the knowledge that you would have non company employees in the vehicle. Are they covered under the insurance ????
This would have been my first question as they would be MY kids. If they are not insured then your boss is very much out of order and infact breaking the law. Worth looking into as it could strengthen your agument for the next time he wants you to work. |

They are insured. It isn't the first time I have taken one of my children to work and this has been looked into before.
It is not this I have issue with though, it is the fact that he talks shizzle when it suits him and I'm kinda getting fecked off with it. That and also whenever holiday is requested it is like a scene from little britain (without the computer) so when I do get a day holiday agreed it p!sses me off that he is lying to me to get me to say I'll go in.

1) Making staff redundant and then employing new people in the same role is a bit naughty (sounds like exploitation of self-employed status).
2) I would have thought that UNITE (formerly the T&GWU) would be your most appropriate trades union. 3) The laws on Flexible Working for Parents changed as of 1st April 2009. The right to request flexible working will be extended to parents of children aged between six and 16 from 1 April 2009. The legislation already covers parents with children aged six and under, or children under 18 with a disability, as well as carers of adults. This extension means potentially an extra 4.5 million parents will gain the right to request flexible working. The TUC have a lot of useful information on their website http://www.tuc.org.uk/tuc/rights_main.cfm It sounds as if your boss is sailing a bit close to the wind with regards to employment law. Employment Tribunals can now increase payments by up to 25% where an employer has failed to follow the legislation and/or agreed Codes of Practice (more infomation on the ACAS website http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1461 |
