Wheelies on a 33bhp.

I'm quite keen on learning how to wheelie. Sorry if you have all heard this before!

I could/can always wheelie a bmx or mountain bike for as long as I like, and being a typical bloke I'd like to take it up a step and get the SV on the back wheel

I've done a brief search on the Org, and figured I'd ask for some up to date advice, after the most recent 'Wheelie' thread became slightly side tracked!

So... 33bhp, restricted k6 SV. Wheelies with single rider* possible?

* I say single rider because it seems quite happy to go up with 11 stone of extra weight in the form of pillion. Just dropping the clutch and big gas.

... back to it. The main technique I've seen and heard seems to go a bit like this...

1. mid range revs and quick acceleration in first.
2. squeeze the clutch a tad
3. hey presto your on the back wheel.

I have tried this and it failed. But I think I was too high in the rev range and I should have been changing gears, not dropping the clutch! It doesnt really seem willing to go just on the power.

Anyone done it on a restricted? Please help before I waste my time!

Only gona work on a bike with a bit more power, I tryed it when i was on 33bhp i reved the tits off her and dropped the clutch whist rolling allong at about ~ 10mph Im not very good at whilllllies but she did jump up a tad so there is hope. It will be possible you just need the right technique, keep trying

Possible my mate used too / still does (idk) and he could but not very high neither could he hold them for very long

Clutch in, full throttle, dump the clutch, yank on the bars...

Be aware wheeling the sv will starve the front cylinder of oil...so be warned..

That sounds like you will flip it. so please work up to tis approoach gradually. And cover the back brake = best way to stop it going too high

Be aware wheeling the sv will starve the front cylinder of oil...so be warned..

should be OK for short ones but maybe not halfa mile or more, esp if your oil is low.

Scooters are so easy to wheelie because they have almost all their weight at the back, so the front doesn't weight so much. They wouldn't move if they had massive V-Twin near their front wheel

+1, your sat over the back wheel above the engine with nothing but the plastics, forks and wheels in front of you on a scooota its just like doing a manual on a mountain bike, get the jerk and lift bit sorted on a 50 and then its just a case of balancing in the 10degree window.
With the weight of a bike been a lot more central and the rider having his/her weight forward you'll need the juice to pop it up. That said I've never attempted to wheelie the SV, done it a couple of times in the last few weeks while been a bit keen at the stop light speedway but tbh scared ill drop it and look a c**k
