Default Opera Browser Qestions

I'm trying out Opera just now and have a few questions
Any help gratefully revieced

1. Is there any way to completely disable tabs? God I hate tabs. I can get rid of the list of tabs at the top but it carrys on using them anyway

(if tabs can't be disabled don't bother answering the next questions)

2. In firefox I could just right clicked on an advert then adblock it. Is there anything similar on opera? I can activate the ad by left clicking on it, but right clicking does nothing.

3. Is there a spell checker? Because my spelling is carp

4 I'd like to move the bookmarks toolbar to below the address toolbar. Is that possible?

1. Yes, go to tools/preferences/advanced tab - here you will find lots of options for tabs and i'm sure one of them is to $"open new pages in the same tab" or something like that, hence no more tabs. Or choose to open new pages in a new window if you refer it that way.
2. Dont think so. There is a pop-up blocker but not heard of the function you mention. Be good if there was tho. Those flashing XXX ads really get on my nerves too
3. Yes apparently so. Do a quick search of IB for threads by Stig Of The Dump as he was asking about this just recently.
4. Not sure. Go to tools/appearance/panels. It gives you options for panel placment and i think if you choose floating you can put it pretty much where you like.

Ok now if I open opera again it opens in a new window so that's good.

Spell checker looks complicated. Looks like stig~dump couldn't get it working

Can't seem to move the bookmarks toolbar

Oh and I have a new problem. When I open opera it doesn't go to my homepage it just opens "opera:blank". I have set my hompage to google and on startup I have set it to "Start with homepage"

Hmmm homepage thing is odd, but what version of Opera is it you have? You know typing into the adress bar will make it a google search anyway, right?
Just dont type in single words or it will try every combination of .com/co.uk/org/net etc before trying google for you.

Stiggy is also new to Opera and even thos ive been using it for over 8yrs now i#ve never felt the need for a spell checker so never bothered installing it.

My rubbish spelling is a sign of charachter i keep telling myself

Well thats what i'm using on this laptop and the homepage always opens to what i set it as. May just be one of those setting that will fix itself with a re-boot.

Have a look at some of the skins they have available, all free of course, as some of them give you a bit of a better "look" that you may like.
