well im on a 33 bhp naked k5 for 2 years when the bike gets up 2 90mph on the clock it will go up 2 a ton if i hammer it but anways when im at 90 mph is it safe to keep it there as it sounds like its putting strain on the engine or should i just keep to 80's ?

i would not have thought it would be a problem as i don't think the engines rev too hard restricted, don't forget speedos over read

I don't think it strains it, at 90 - 100 in 6th you're at about 6 - 8k revs I believe.
Not sure, it doesn't strain it though unless your going up to the red line in 4th or 5th at that speed. |

Yup, can't see what damage this would do - the engine is capable of plenty more.
Oh if it starts making a "nee nah nee nah" sound, thats not the engine... its the plod doing you for speeding ![]()

I'm a 33BHP'er and to be honest I wouldn't sweat it too much. Normally I stick it to the 80 mark until the engine has got nicely warmed up. After that I give it all it's got which means cruising at around 100 and the occasional blip to 107 when the conditions are right. I've been on 2 runs up to Scotland which is about 400 and something miles each way like this and my engines not gone bang after 22k on the clock.
Just make sure you've got plenty of oil in the tank when you do it. Side note: All above measurements are in KPH and not MPH obviously. |
