Evening ladies and gents.
I got rid of my ninja today and collected my V-Strom. All I can say is that i'm glad i'm back on a V-twin. Within seconds of riding off on it I was grinning. Admitedly it has no brakes and is quite softly sprung compared to the race bike I traded in. But..... It just felt right straight away and so I took it for a hundred miles of bedding in. I increased the preload at the back and although its no sportsbike it handles very well and the engine has loads of grunt all the time. Definitely suits me more than the ninja as its big and lazy. ![]() |

Sweet! Any particular reason why you went from race bike to the v-strom? Just prefer v-twins.
Oh and pics please ^.^ |

Pics will be forthcoming chaps, I decided to go to a dual sport from a sportsbike because I was totally sick of the riding position and i'm too tall for them to have as my only bike.
I do intend to get hold of an RS250 in the near future to use as my fun/track/never working horrible stinkwheel bike. Hopefully by now my Leo Vince cans will have been delivered so I can make the bike sound correct. |

The Vstrom brakes benefit from the same stuff as stock SV ones, decent pads, braided line.
Don't think that choice of bike means slow, a certain member here has a bandit 1250GT and can shift a bit.

Ah see, they will probably be fine once i've got used to using more than one finger again!
From trawling the V-strom forums i have found you can fit GSXR 750 calipers if you buy a £40 mounting kit from SV-Racing. Stoppies anyone? |

Same kit as for the SV...
600,750 or 1000 ones, the 1000 are 6-pot and probably too much.

Is it exactly the same, cool.
Is it a worthy upgrade you think? 600 or 750's calipers seem to go for £50. |

I think it's worthwhile.

Excellent. i'll keep me eyes open for some. That engine must have been amazing with another 30hp!!
I'm well happy I have a bike to modify again. My first modification is to make it soooo loud it sets off car alarms. THen i'm going to raise the back end a bit so it has a little bit more ground clearance. |
