Hi there, I have just been to inifinity to look for some boots and gloves as I have got a 2 piece textile suit at the moment.
While I was there I looked at a Frank Thomas 2 piece XTI suit. I have read a few things on here saying don't buy Frank Thomas! The offer they have on at the moment is Frank Thomas 2 piece leathers for £409.99 then a free pair of Sidi Vertigo's at £179.99 and a free pair of Frank Thomas XTI gloves at £99.99. So my question is do I go with paying £409.99 for the above lot, or do I buy a pir of £99.99 Oxford Bone Dry boots and a pair of £45 gloves? I don't need leathers, but thought the offer was good until I read the reports of the frank thomas stuff! |

DO NOT get Sidi Vertigos, the build quality is terrible and they fall apart in seconds. Especially the soles which wear through easily and lose the stitching. I know it happened to mine, get A* instead much better.
Plus they squeak like 2 mice on honeymoon.... |

if you dont need them dont buy them.. just buy the gloves and boots.. other boots to consider are sidi black rain.. they are popular for a reason... my choice for good quality cheep gloves are spada..
what they are realy saying is you are buying £200 leathers. if you are happy with the gear you have at the moment and you were considering spending the £400 then get yourself better boots/gloves you will never regret spending money on good boots and gloves. |

I currently have a pair of Sidi Canyons which are still waterproof 12 months later of nearly everyday wear.

Perfectly good boots with a great amount of feel, great adjustability to make them fit right and plenty of protection in case of an off. It would take a ton of miles to wear your way through themif all you are doing is braking and gear-shifing.

From those replies I think I will give the leathers a miss then and go with a pair of boots and gloves. Thanks for all the helpful replies. Any other advice people have got would be appreciated in relation to £100 ish boots.

Sidi Crossfires are my choice. They have held up well over the past 2 years and copped a bit of a beating in last years crash, but still going strong.
The downside is that they are a fairly agressively styled MX boot. |
