Riot police raid 30th barbecue because man used Facebook to invite his friends


Riot police raided a 30th birthday barbecue because they thought the organiser, who had invited his friends via Facebook, was staging a rave.

Four police cars, a riot van and a helicopter moved in on Andrew Poole's gathering which was taking place in a field owned by a friend.

The coach driver had invited 17 guests to an 'event' on his social networking page by private invitation and was about to light the barbecue when the gazebo suddenly started flapping wildly and the sound of chopper blades filled the air.

We had a hilarious one when the police tried to storm my mates field in a cunning surprise attack because we were shooting clays. Watch 10 coppers hop over a wall and all end up up to their b0llocks in a swamp within 3 steps.


On a serious note, what the f*ck business of the coppers is it what people do on their own land? Who do they think they are, Team America?


So hang on, does this mean if I fancy shooting someone through the spleen, all I have to do is invite all my mates to an all night session, and while the entire constabulary charges around making sure there is absolutely NO FUN going on... This why why me and thousands upon thousands of other ravers and music lovers mrached the street and in the end threw a few bricks too.

The Criminal Justice Bill says that any gathering of more than 3 people, where there is a music system present can be disrupted by the police, the persons there sent away in different directions (if you are with a mate a copper can tell you that you cannot go the same way as him but send you off in another direction if he so wishes) and the music system can be confiscated.

Soon after the law was passed (hey theres a surprise, people marched against an unjust law and it got passed anyway) there were so many stories in the papers about small groups of picnicers with a very small portable tape deck/radio having fun in the park....and then having cops show up, presumably eat their do-nuts, and threaten to arrest everyone unless they dirperrsed immeadeately and gave the cops the batteries out of their streo so as to ensure it couldn't be used again a few minutes down the road.
Cos shops dont sell batteries and having a picnic with a few mates is just such an anti social thing to do
Its been a while since i heard one of these stories but nice to know the Anti-Fun police are still as stringent as ever about stopping law abiding people having fun.

Lots of offences are committed on private property..... violence, rape, drug-dealing, money-laundering, extortion, murder, torture, fencing or stolen goods, etc....... are you saying that the police shouldn't be allowed to intevene?

Are you saying that people should be allowed to do whatever they want on their own property even when it interferes with peoples' otherwise peaceful lives?

I suspect that you're not saying this, but it was a rather sweeping statement

having said that, it does seem to a be a rather over-the-top response in this particular case and I suspect that ar$es are being hauled over the coals as I type
