Default Lifting bike - on a slope!? Abba stand?

We're moving house, and the next one doesn't have anywhere flat for raising the bike.

Currently I use a crappy and difficult to get on rear paddock stand, and the front one - never been able to work out how to use that - not sure it's even suitable for the bike.

So, can anyone recommend a stand that would be suitable for an incline - not overly steep, but enough that I wouldn't be confident with the stand I currently use. Main concern is chain maintenance.

Would an Abba stand be ok? Or can anyone recommend anything else that would be good, and not overly expensive.

your front paddock may have bobbin forks on it so you need bobbins on your bike
ebay =front fork bobbins

I take it the slope is fore and aft, not sideways on? Abba stands can be a bit of a fiddle at times, but one would be ideal for this. Put the bike in gear facing uphill, fit the stand whilst bike on sidestand, stand bike up and pull back onto the stand.

That was my thinking - just after knowing how secure it'll hold.

Figure if I can get used getting the back wheel off the ground, it'll make keeping that chain clean and lubed in the winter an easier task. I know - scottoiler, yada, yada!

I've recently bought a Abba stand, can't say i've found it difficult or tricky to use and it's very solid.

I'm not a million miles from you, unless your moving further a field, so could always run mine up to you to try before you buy so to speak.

Having a rear tyre fitted later today, so it will be free later this afternoon.

Rob.

Rob,

Had new front and rear yesterday at Malc's Motorcycles on Grimshaw Lane in Bollington.

That would be fantastic. We move in a few weeks from Whaley Bridge to Chinley, so when we're in the new house, if you wouldn't mind - that would really be appreciated.

I'll check-in with you around the end of next month? Maybe even catch you for a local ride one evening?

Cheers Mate!

Gareth
