Default Have you ever knocked a biker off while driving a cage?

A friend who i had not seen in a long time reminded me of my very first accident in my first car at the age of 17 )ages ago)!

If i remember right i drove out of a side road in my yellow Vauxhall Viva (ultra cool) and a biker went into the rear panel. The guy went over the car and landed on other side but managed to get up and had a lucky escape.

The words that came out of my mouth were "Where the f**k you come from" and did not go down to well. I was of course at fault as i was looking at a bunch of girls at side of road and not giving road my full attention. Pathetic i know but i put it down to stupidity and inexperience.

Am i the only guy to have knocked a biker off while driving a cage?

Never had a bike/car interaction but I'm certainly a lot more careful looking for bikes when in the car since I started riding, being much more aware of what they are likely to do.

I nearly had one run into the back of me a couple of years ago, if I'd have been in my own car I may not have been able to make enough space for him (or even tried too hard).
I'm sure in his mind it was all my fault and probably wrote on some forum or other how some some prat in a 'cage' nearly took him off.

Once in a clients car he knoced over a pizza delivery guy. My client was so in the worng but jumped out and started having a go at the poor bloke as he was getting up. I politely told the client he was in the wrong as the pizza ped had been right next to me in the passenger, by the kerb. So if i knew he was there then the driver should have known this too. He shouted at me and said i should take his side or shut up, thinking his client status meant he could talk to me however he liked. He soon discovered that it was me who called the police and gave a statment putting him firmly to blame...and then struck him off as a client too.

Another time, i saw a bike in my wing mirror approchainf from a long way back as i was sitting in stationary traffic. It was really pouring down and i already had my wheels turned ready to change lanes in the turn right lane ahead when we moved forward. The guy on the Transalp obviously noticed this at the last second and assumed i was about to move or U turn in front of him, panicked and braked too hard and slid the bike down the road. I jumped up to help him get up and get his bike back to the kerb where he assesed it was ok and rideable. I gace him my card and said contact me if insurance need a witness or anything...and the bugger claimed off me! I told my insurance what happened but they still paid out and said just because there was no collision does not mean my actions did not cause the accident. Go figure that one out.
