For the money you are asking to add you won't get anything decent really.
You might get £2000 max say? You could possibly get an really older GSXR ZX6 etc. Its worth keeping the SV or chopping it in for something more expensive. |

A lot of places have good finance deals at the minute, why not use the SV trade in as a sizeable deposit and get some low monthly payments on the go?

The extra cash you have will barely cover the higher insurance for a ss600.Seems like you cant really afford another bike just now,so Id stick with what you have until times get better.

You'd probably get more selling your bike privately, most dealers wont offer you a very good part ex price unless you are buying a bike for a lot more.
Your bike is worth about £2500, whether someone will pay that for it in the current climate though is another story. For £2500 you'd get a 2002 ZX6R or a 2001 CBR600RR but they will have a lot more miles on than your SV. Best bet is just to have a look around dealers and see what's about and what they think your SV is worh.

I agree with the others and keep the SV, it's not a bad place to be and if you get an ss600 you may find the grass wasn't greener after all. I wish I'd kept my original SV it was worth more as a bike than cash.

FWIW, I went from SV -> SS600 and the grass was most definitely greener (and still is)
