ok i know there is two threads but really want to shift it lol
made another one, i was going to make a batch of 5 and flog them on ebay but my crash has left me financially buggered so i need the money. slightly different from the last one but loads better: chamfered corners instead of rounded. same timber (wenge - the dark timber, very expensive and oak). i was going to put felt on the bottom but only finished it yesterday........ anyway here it is Attachment 3932Attachment 3933Attachment 3934Attachment 3935Attachment 3936 probably bit of along shot ![]() Last edited by Wideboy; 10-10-10 at 09:28 PM. |

Hmm, this is weird, I work for a traditional games company, we have recently had a guy retire who used to make us inlaid wooden board games like chess boards, fox and geese, ludo, nine mens morris etc. Your skills could be of use to my boss. I can't promise anything at all as I'm not the boss but I'll point him to your post and if he's interested he'll contact you for sure. Do you make these all the time? Or more importantly could you make them and others like it on an ongoing basis? i.e. If we were to order say 10+ a month, could you do them to a high and even quality or is this just a one-off?
Like I said, don't get your hopes up but I'll ask my boss if he is interested. Nice work, it's good to see some craftsmanship in this everplastic world. |

And I forgot to ask, (PM me if you don't want to broadcast), what kind of ballpark are we talking with regards a "sensible offer"? I realise something like this takes time and the raw materials and tooling aren't cheap either but give me a rough idea. Cheers.

That's beautiful craftsmanship WB. I think to get sales you're going to have to give a price though. No one wants to make a stab in the dark for risk if either insulting you by offering way too little...or beeing fleeced by offering way too much. Tot up the cost of raw materials, set yourself an hourly rate and figure out how long these things take to make and you'll have a rough figure of what YOU should be asking for, then check the competition prices and raise the asking price if you can. The quality speaks for itself by looking at the pictures.
