I have a rear paddock stand i use with bobbins but have never even looked at a front one in terms to how they lift the bike. Can anyone please tell me if this one is suitable to use with a 2005 SV650. now for a silly question....do you put bike on front or back first or does it not matter?

Back first, always back first.
Personally I can't get on with those types, I prefer the under the yokes or pin in the bottom of the forks.

Thats like the one me and my dad use, not so much on my bike i just use the centre stand and a jack if i want the front up but theres never been any problems with using it on his ZX7 or my old bike You just have to make sure that the forks are located correctly before you lift the front end.

I use both the champion ones (pin into each fork leg) and one that pins into the bottom of the headstock. Both have their uses but the headstock approach is definately the more versatile and stable of the two.
It obviously allows fork removal and you are able to turn the bars when on the stand which can be useful to make bolts more accessible when working. |

I use those, as Banditpat said really, just be careful lifting it if you do buy that one.

Much prefer the "under the stem" sort, this is the exact one I use, though I didn't pay this much! It's fine, cheaply made but it's been solid enough in use. The under-the-fork ones aren't anything like as useful, or as stable.
