Default too exspensive ?

hi all,

i recently had some work done on my sv, costs seem a little steep and would like your opinion,

i had a set of tyres put on, carbs balanced and 4th gear replaced. £900
i am a little annoyed to say the least. not just beacause of the work costing nearly as much as the bike is worth, but because it took this garage 5 months to do what i understand to be a days work and i have missed nearly the whole racing season. any thoughts?

Tyres replaced £220.
Carbs Balanced £30
4th Gear replaced....... Engine out, total stirp down and case split, new gasket set and replacement new Suzuki part 4th Gear + new circlips on gear shaft. Engine rebuild + Labour + VAT ....

£900 sounds about right.

or you could have done it yourself and saved yourself £500 in labour

5 months is way way way too long.....

sounds like someone has had you off there mate im sorry to say, tyres at the most should be no more than about £220 for a pair, i got my carbs balanced a few weeks back for £30 i think it was, got to admit im not sure how much it would be to replace the 4th gear but it sounds well steep that

Did you get a reciept which states what they did with the price on, you could speak to citizens advice to see if you can take it further, maybe with trading standards or somethin

thats what i thought. i would love to name and shame but i will wait until i pick it up and try to negotiate a more reasonable price.

the reason we didnt agree a price before hand was because he was recomended by a member of family who knows him as a friend.

you live and learn, wont be making that mistake again
