Default Feeling sorry for myself!

I've been to the dentist today and he's told me that I'm going to need to have my two upper front teeth taken out, and probably one next to them as well.
Basically they've been dead for 30 years and have been crowned. I had an infection in the roots of them about 15 years ago and had to have an operation to remove the apex if the roots.
I've had the infection come back recently and it's not responded to anti-biotics. I've persuaded him to give me more anti-biotics, but he says they won't work.

So, I've now got to consider my options

1) Be front toothless - Free
2) Wear a denture - About £100
3) Have a bridge - About £500
4) Have implants - About £3600

I know that this is a miniscule problem compared with a lot of peoples problems, but I'm thoroughly p***ed off about it.

My dad is in a similar situation. He keeps getting really sore abscesses and having to get teeth removed. Luckily not his front ones like you.
Is the implant where they bolt a fake tooth to your jaw?

Out of the options, the tootless one is a no no to start with. I don't want a denture, I'm only 43! The bridge will mean basically killing two perfectly healthy teeth that will then have a limited life. Finally for the money that the implants would cost I could have a brilliant holiday or buy myself a gixer/whatever

I know at least one of my upper front has to come out as the root filling is failing. Denture is a no no, the one next to it is effectively dead with a veneer fitted to disguise the colour that that would probably go at the same time.

I guess a foreign holiday for implant work may be in order.

Yep, they screw titanium inserts into your jaw bone and the fix false teeth to them. It's all done under local anesthetic and takes between 6 and 9 months from removal of teeth to the finished product. Been shown some pictures and it looks gruesome!

i've got a front tooth crowned as it was broken, the tooth has been drilled out and capped but the real tooth is now fragile and comes loose if suffers a knock

that cost me 500 smackers

I had teeth problems when I lived in London, they have a detist school hospital though and any sorts of problems can get fixed for free. They are carried out by people not yet graduated however they are all in their final years, and have supervision at all times.

I dont know if they might be able to help you.
