WTF Sv-ers!
Finally bit the bullet today ... re: my previous posts over the last couple of years ... my curvy is getting a little tired though is still doing the biz, and despite the clutch starter switch gamming up and preventing it from starting recently, and a seized rear brake at MOT time, it really can exceed the National Speed Limit with consumate ease. (Not that I do, officer!) Anyway, I had a go on a Kawasaki Z750S a couple of weeks ago from the shop where I got my SV 650s 6 years ago and despite the sweetness of the detuned Kwak stable in-line 4, the mirrors gave me a great view of my nipples (they were covered at the time), and the rear shock looked most rusty indeed (and it was an 07 ex-demonstrator with few miles on the clock). So, I am browsing and I find myself an 06 plate Mint SV650S in silver/pale blue with 3,300 miles for £3000. Go and visit the shop today, it's as it says on the tin and oh yes .... it's now mine. Picking up next Saturday, and I'm keeping the Curvy in Black with currently 37,000 miles on the clock (of which I have done 31,000 of them in the last 6 years). My old curvy now has a brother (or a sister?!) ... and I am the proud owner of a 'new' pointy SV. I would appreciate any information on what I can expect compared with the curvy, as I wasn't able to test ride it. Cheers Tony from Very Sunny Burnley (weather-wise and bike-wise) ![]() Last edited by Tony_BLY; 12-09-09 at 05:55 PM. |

Just in case your wondering why I have kept the original, it's because the owner of the shop said 37000 miles on a bike is like 90000 miles on a car (in terms of a trade-in). So he wouldn't do a trade in.
So, I thought fook it, I'll keep the curvy if I'm going to get naff all for it and ride it through the harsher weather. And split the mileage between the two. That way, the pointy will keep her looks a bit longer and the curvy will assist when the weather is atrocious and there is animal fat and salt all over the road. Don't want people to think I'm minted!? I'm not, but sometimes you just have to get your wallet out (or credit card?!!) ... I think it makes sense financially. Okay, I'm not a Yorkshireman, but us Lancastrians are thrifty too, tha' knows! ![]() Last edited by Tony_BLY; 12-09-09 at 06:41 PM. |

Nice!
I not owned a curvy, so can't comment on them, but I'm on my 2nd Pointy, and I love it!!! Nothing much to look out for, depends how you treat it really, (keeping it clean etc), the one thing that IS something to be VERY aware of is the damage that can be done to the swinging arm, when adjusting the chain!!!! The adjuster plate things may as well be made out of cheese. They can bend outwards if they get stuck on the nut, by SCRAPING a bloody great gouge out of your nice black swinging arm. NOT good. |

Picked up my new K6 today with 2800 miles on the clock, a minter!
And paid £2800. I thought it was agreat buy and by the time I had ridden the 65 miles home was loving it! Just got some ultra low renthal bars for £5.50 on ebay and after trying them on another bike will improve the riding position for me. Roll on tommorow! |
