Default 1000 miles in 24 hours

Anyone else done it?

I was riding the bike back from Italy on Tuesday, and had planned to stop half way in Germany. Due to the motorway exit being closed where I needed to get to the hostel, and a 30 km diversion, I ended up getting to the hostel after it had closed. After ringing back and forth with the girlfriend to try and find another hostel or cheap hotel nearby (I was on the Rhine close to Frankfurt and hotels are really expensive), and a couple of hours wasted trying to find another hostel I decided to just drive straight through to the UK.

As I passed the 24 hour mark since I had set off I had clocked 1004 miles! In all my journey was 28 hours and a total of 1190 miles, and I covered six countries - after which I slept the whole next day!

Was wondering if anyone else has done big mileage, and what they think of the SV as a long distance cruiser (I'm thinking of maybe doing North Cape next summer)?

The longest i've gone in a day is 450 miles, Nurnberg in Germany to Amsterdam. Took me just over 6 hours. On my second night of riding through Europe, we went to a non-existant hostel in Koblenz (on the Rhine) and ended up staying in a hotel. Cost us something like 100 euros for the night...

Most i have done is 675 miles on the SV. Set off at 7 in morning and got to destination at 9 in evening. Had a few rest stops (chunnel tunnel being one) and had perfect blue skies, sun behind us as it went down and perfect temp. Never have had the chance to repeat it though but planning to next year

Bike rode perfectly and i must had no problem with comfort. My build/weight is probably the exact type the bike was made for.
