Default Getting kids into motorcycling?

I'm looking for a way of getting my two sons some experience of biking and was wondering if anyone has any advice?

They are 14 and 11 and I was thinking about getting a pit bike or such for them to use, however would imagine we'd be quite restricted in where they could use it. Have looked around for local go kart/mini moto places, however they only seem to cater for mini moto racing and I don't want to let the just go out on any old field etc.

When I was younger (back in the day!), there were a few places were you could go and ride a Puch 80cc with supervision/advice...but no longer it seems.

Any ideas/advice anyone?

Thanks in advance.

Might want to try MX tracks, they may run open or youth days where they could get some experience of controlling a bike, if you can do it off road it'll help a lot on the road

Mini Moto Racing.

They start at about 5yrs all the way up to 30 yr old blokes.

A decent 4.2 (starter bike) can be picked up for ~300- 400

+1 on the mini moto racing, its a good place to start and they can easily be restricted if necessary to suit the young 'uns. steer well clear of the cheapy Chinese ones as ya'll spend more time fixing the thing than riding it

which reminds me, must haul out my trusty Pasini polini 4.2 and finish putting it back together to stick on fleabay

spend £50 on a pit bike find a field job done, learn to ride better than the police quickly.

me and my mates did that, no better control than off-roading, next time im out will ask someone to film the police run after they end in all the police riders on the floor as they only use 2nd and 3rd for off-roading. there are some real motocross areas but last time i looked they was too expensive. be warned the police use 660cc machines and i use a mates 350cc

It's moronic dickery like this that gives "off-road motorcylists" a bad name and gets us banned from the few trails we can still legally use, thanks for that
