Aye, KTM turned them down and KTM was what Charlie wanted all along it was his childhood sweetheart so to speak. But KTM said him and Ewan would fail so didnt want anything to do with it. So I recon it was his resentment of KTM is from that, ie they said he'd fail when instead the KTM failed, but tbh how many times did the GS breakdown... more than once lol.

I thought the only issue they had with the GS in the Long Way Round was the side stand switch. The other issues were due to Ewan and Claudio crashing them.

On the long way down I think the only issue they had was the shocks on Ewan and Claudio's bike went however they were after market 'upgrades' and they ended up putting the stock ones back on.

But anyway's up, saw the towing technique thought it was very interesting. Not sure I'd want another bike pulling me by my handlebars but I'm sure it is perfectly fine. I guess when you live somewhere as vast as Austrailia then something that our namby pamby government deems 'unsafe' or illegal would actually save your life. I mean I doubt the AA would recover you from a rainforest would they?

That was the ABS failing and stopping the bike running at all due to them welding his bike together in Mongolia somewhere IIRC

Ewan's frame cracked later on

They also managed to drown the GSs because BMW didn't put the air intake high enough, meaning anything over the cylinder heads and you draw in water... Unlike "the leading other brand of adventure motorcycle" :
