Question why differnt chains for s and n

right i know the s and n have different chain sizes 108 and 110 and the teeth are differnt on the sprockets but my queston is why
when i put s chain and sprockets on the n it still doesnt work right but it does work
is it swing arm length or what
its the only thing i can think of . if not that what is it

swing arm ont naked is longer.

I guess if you fit a shorter chain to the naked and actually manage to rivet it together it's at risk of snapping or you'll get less adjustment out of it. Can't say I've ever tried it, I get sold an S one on a saturday morning got all ready to fit it, was just about to put the new chain on and counted the links and realised they'd sold me the wrong chain - that was annoying. Had to wait while monday to get it sorted

It seems there isn't a difference in sprocket size from, I assume, the K7 onwards. Both have a 45/15 sprocket ratio. The swingarm is longer on the N.

The other one was slack! it just rattled like a bag of change.

Edit: although thinking about it Dave's pillion (gary?) might have took up a wee bit of that slack

How did you manage to get S csk on an N?

I fitted an N csk to my S and it was basicly at the end of adjustment! removed 2 links and put a new one in now so its all good and a 108 link chain now
