Finally got round to cleaning and sorting a few bits on the bike today and noticed after i'd finished upon starting it up there was a rattling / clicking noise whilst it was warming up. It wasn't continuous more sporadic and it disappeared after it reached temp. Possibly sounds like a chain rattling if that helps? Any ideas what it could be and if it's serious? I've been riding it pretty hard the last few weeks (2 track days). Any help would be appreciated! Cheers!!

Could be? Is it easily adjusted or much of a problem? I've never noticed it before! I'm no expert to be honest and I don't like new noises!

Mine`s a bit ticky and asked the dealer about it and got the reply "Don`t worry about it , they all do that" . Is it excessive ? . If it was then I would get it checked out , if it sounds quite mild then there have been plenty of instances where people have mentioned it on Curvy/Pointy`s and have left it .
I am not saying it is fine or needs immediate attention , I am still running my K3 over 6 months after mentioning it and it never got any noisier , in fact after an oil change it may have reduced slightly , cannot be sure on that though . Personally if it didn`t sound like a load of marbles in a tumble dryer then I would get it looked at eventually . For piece of mind you can always pop it over to your dealer , a mech will listen to it and probably not charge you anything for a quick listen . Edit : My bike does 1000 miles a month minimum for reference |

It doesn't seem excessive. It's maybe I just haven't noticed it before. I'll be swapping the oil soon so i'll see if that makes a difference. If not i'll do as you say and pop into the stealers. It doesn't sound like a bag of spanners by any stretch! Thanks for the advice! I have however noticed another loud noise today...Oh no sorry that was me finally getting the broken screw out of the exhaust and taking the baffles out!

I find that taking the baffles out removes any excessive noise from an SV around the engine area

Noticed almost the opposite today, when I got to work could hear an intermittent tick - not noticed it before. Fired her up at lunch time, nothing. Got home tonight and it's back.
Reasonably certain it's the cam chain. Does temperature usually have an effect on the symptom, and which way round is it usually? When cold or when hot? |

It can be either way , I forgot to mention that mine is Ticky when the bike has had a good run and is really hot .
